The Usui Reiki Level 1 Attunement Process

If you are a Reiki master, this message is for you.

It’s a different kind of newsletter.

But valuable, nevertheless.

I thought long and hard if I should share this information.

After much consideration, I realized this could be useful in any Reiki practitioner’s arsenal, whether you plan to implement it soon or not.

I am offering the attunement procedure for Usui Reiki Leve 1, preserving its sacred value.

This is a longer-than-usual email, so let’s get into it.

Bookmark or copy it in a separate document for future reference.

Things To Keep In Mind

• You can find this procedure in every Reiki master-teacher manual, so it’s not a secret document or reserved for the fortunate few.

• This is precisely what you need to attune others to Reiki. It may look different than you’d expect, as each school or teacher follows a different path and lineage.

• Remember that when performing a Reiki attunement you become a facilitator, a channel through which angels, spirit guides, and the universal life force energy flow and manifest into the physical plane.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Pronouncing and Fixing Symbols: Each symbol used in the attunement will be pronounced three times to bring its presence into the physical plane. When I mention “fixing the symbol,” it means you are anchoring it three times in the specified body area.

Preparing for Attunement: Before starting the attunement, place your tongue on the roof of your mouth, with the tip gently touching the back side of your upper incisors. Contract your perineum muscle while performing the attunement. These steps connect two important energy channels, allowing you to channel the universal energy and attunement elements to your student.

The Violet Breath Method: This is the quintessential element for offering a Reiki attunement. Here’s what it looks like:

  • Contract your perineum muscle and press your tongue against the roof of your mouth. Inhale and visualize a white light entering your Crown Chakra;
  • Visualize the light flowing down to the perineum area in front of your body. From there, see it travel up the spine to the center of your head. Picture this white light as a mist or cloud filling your head;
  • Visualize this white mist starting to rotate clockwise, changing from white to blue, then to violet. The rotation moves from your left ear, over the top of your head, to your right ear and around;
  • Once the mist is violet and starts rotating, picture the Tibetan Dai Ko Mio symbol in the center of this violet mist;
  • When the Violet Breath needs to be offered during the attunement process, blow the symbol and the mist out through the student’s crown chakra;
  • Then, guide the Tibetan Dai Ko Myo to the student’s back side of their head. First, stop at in the middle, between the parietal and occipital regions. Then, guide the symbol to the head’s base. Pronounce its name 3 times to fix it in each position;

These steps are critical for a successful attunement, ensuring the proper flow and integration of universal energy into the student’s energy system.

Preparation And Purification

Cleanse yourself to become a clear channel for the universal life force energy to flow freely.

On the day of offering attunements, it’s best to eat lightly and avoid animal-based products, as they can obstruct your vital and universal energy flow.

The Attunement Process For Usui Reiki Level 1

1) Preparation

• Recite a few prayers or play high-vibrational music in the room where you’ll perform the attunement.

• Activate your palms and crown chakra with all the Reiki symbols you have access to.

• Activate the rest of your primary chakras, at least with Cho Ku Rei and Sei He Ki. You can also activate these two symbols along the entire length of your body, front and back.

• Cleanse your aura by inviting universal energy to flow freely through your energetic body. You can use the cone of light method or combing technique for this.

2) Purify The Room

• Activate Reiki symbols on the ceiling, floor, walls, corners, and center of the room.

• Invite universal energy into the room by activating a large Dai Ko Myo in the center.

• If available, light one candle in each corner of the room. (mind flammable materials)

• Use incense, Palo Santo, or frankincense to enhance the purification effect.

3) Set Your Intention

• Ask your guardian angel and Reiki guides to assist and support you in passing on the attunement to your client.

• Declare your intention clearly, stating that you are about to transmit a Usui Reiki Level 1 attunement to [your client’s first name] – pronounce their name.

4) Attunement

• Ask the client to enter the room and have them sit in a chair with their back straight. Ask them to place their hands in Gassho (prayer position) and keep their eyes closed.

• Ideally, they should sit halfway on the chair so you can access the back side of their body.

You will perform the next steps while sitting behind the student.

a) Activate the Serpent of Fire: Activate a large Serpent of Fire on their back. Fix it at the base of the spine by pronouncing its name 3 times.

b) Violet Breath: Place your palms on the client’s crown chakra. Use the Violet Breath (described above) to blow it between your palms onto the crown chakra.

c) Tibetan Dai Ko Myo: With your right hand, draw a Tibetan Dai Ko Myo on top of the client’s crown chakra, bringing its energy down and fixing it at the base of the head. Your left hand should be placed on the left side of the client’s head to support their aura.

d) Draw Symbols: Above the client’s crown chakra, activate the traditional Dai Ko Myo, Sei He Ki, and Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen. For each symbol, pronounce its name three times, bring its energy to the base of the head, and fix it there.

e) Draw Cho Ku Rei: Bring the client’s palms (still in Gassho) on top of their head. On the tips of their fingers, draw Cho Ku Rei, bringing its energy down and fixing it at the base of the head. Remember to pronounce its name three times.

After you complete these steps, return the client’s palms to chest level, maintaining the Gassho position.

You will perform the next steps while sitting in front of the student.

a) Gently open your client’s palms, holding them with your left hand.

b) Activate Cho Ku Rei on the client’s third eye chakra and fix it there with your right hand.

c) Activate Shika So on the client’s throat chakra and fix it there.

d) Activate Shika So on the client’s heart chakra and fix it there.

e) Activate Cho Ku Rei above your client’s opened palms. Fix the symbol in each palm by pronouncing its name 3 times. Then, close their palms back in Gassho.

f) Divine Breath: With your tongue on the roof of your mouth and the tip touching the back of your upper incisors, gently blow in the following order:

  • From your client toward you;
  • From you toward your client;
  • Again, from your client toward you;
  • Again, from you toward your client;

These steps help to fully integrate the attunement energy into your client’s body, ensuring a balanced and effective Reiki experience.

5) Sealing The Process (from behind)

• Visualize the Orange Sphere: Return to the back of your client and visualize a fiery, bright orange sphere of light, about the size of a tennis ball, at the base of their spine.

• Affirmation: Place your palms on the client’s shoulders and say the following affirmation three times:

“You are now a Reiki practitioner filled with love, light, self-trust, and success!”

• Seal the Process: Place both your thumbs at the base of the client’s head and pronounce 3 times:

“I seal this divine process with divine love, light, and wisdom!”

• Close the Energetic Gate: Visualize a large Cho Ku Rei symbol to close the energetic gate between you and your client, sealing the entire process.

Following these steps ensures that the attunement is sealed correctly, allowing your client to move forward as a newly attuned Reiki practitioner.

6) The Pink Cloud Of Love

• Return in front of your client, rest your opened palms on your hips, and visualize a pink cloud of love and compassion.

• Inhale the energy and vibration of this cloud, and then gently lift your palms, releasing your client into this cloud.

Now, you can relax your perineal area and release your tongue from the roof of your mouth.

7) Closing Steps

• After completing the process, ask your client to slowly open their eyes and discuss what they felt or visualized during the attunement.

• Follow up by explaining what they have received and teaching them the hand positions.

• Cover all the details of Reiki, including its principles and the essential elements needed to become a confident practitioner.

As a teacher, you are responsible for guiding those who seek spiritual evolution. However, the student must maintain regular practice and contact you with any questions about their experiences during the following 21 days of self-treatment.

This becomes a sacred bond that ensures the student can fully integrate and benefit from their Reiki attunement.

Conclusion

As you can see, the attunement process is quite complex.

It’s a sacred act that requires a thorough understanding of its elements.

The good news is that you can adapt it for levels 2 and 3, with a couple of additions that we’ll discuss another time.

The Reiki attunement resembles a baptism due to the connection created with the universal life force energy.

This sacred act bridges divine and earthly energies, transforming the receiver into a clear channel that can now spread more divine light into our world.

But remember!

As with anything, nothing will ever happen if you don’t act upon it.

The Reiki attunement is merely a starting point for personal and spiritual evolution.

You have the opportunity to grow and can only do so with a genuine desire to change from within.

Embrace this chance and become a beacon of light for yourself and others.
