“Pseudoscience” is a term that replaces most topics that don’t belong to the scientific community.
It’s a word used to describe something that may resemble science but doesn’t meet the “generally accepted” criteria. Unfortunately, Reiki falls into this category.
The fun fact is that science and medicine are still in an “infant” state.
As a result, we’re barely scratching the surface of our potential in these fields.
I take full responsibility for this statement.
Along with my friends and family, I experienced a broad range of medical inaccuracies and superficial diagnoses in the past decade.
This led me to believe that the answer to many health concerns lies outside the traditional system.
Make no mistake!
I have the uttermost respect for science and the contribution it brought to humanity, starting from Avicenna, 1000 years ago until now.
I am trying to point out that if something is not “measurable” or able to be “quantified,” it immediately falls down into the realm of pseudoscience.
It’s like that person who cannot accept someone else’s opinion and believe their worldview is unique.
And they are right.
But we all have unique worldviews.
This doesn’t make them exclusive. And that’s where the subtle difference is.
Accepting how others see the world is an essential step in one’s evolution.
Just because you can’t see it, it doesn’t mean it’s not there.
This approach resembles the one from 100 years ago when people believed that communication worldwide was impossible.
If you said that you could travel by air from Paris to London 200 years ago as a woman, you would probably end up in an asylum or worse.
Let’s give this some thought…
What if we do this every time we discover something new that doesn’t fit our current reality? It’s an approach that will stunt our growth regardless of its nature.
The good news is that quantum physics, alongside parapsychology and psychoanalysis, offers a larger spectrum of perceiving and understanding elements beyond our ability to touch or see.
Even if a theory has more significant value in terms of accuracy in the scientific and quantum physics field than a “regular” theory, it’s still not confirmed 100%.
In fact, paradoxically, quite a few scientific theories have precise calculations.
They fail to identify the origin of the “engine that drives the universe” and the elements that govern it, such as gravity, dark matter, and even the Big Bang.
Science doesn’t yet have all the answers to the source of all things.
This confusion and lack of data forces segregation between science, spiritual knowledge, and religion. It creates a schism that eventually leads to conflict and the derailment of society.
Kind of primitive, isn’t it?
Spiritual practices and theories have existed for millennia, but science has been around for less than 200 years.
We’ve progressed more in the first half of the 1900s than in the last 5 centuries. And exponentially quicker in the previous 50 years.
Makes you wonder…
Is it possible that we’re on the cusp of a new era?
One where science and spirituality will merge to create a more holistic understanding of our reality?
If you look at some of the recent discoveries in quantum physics, you might come to the same conclusion.
You can even have a pick closer to home. You sure have a friend or neighbor who practices yoga, meditation, or something along those lines.
Of course, throughout the centuries, the contribution of science has unmasked and demolished many false practitioners who were only trying to take advantage of people for their money and attention.
That’s one of the reasons why people lost their faith in spiritual practices and teachings, believing that they are mostly scams.
Yet, some spiritual practices prevailed and are still used today. Their effects are visible but not utterly measurable due to our lack of technology.
The reason why these beneficial effects occur through those practices has not received an “official” label. One of the reasons could be the desire to maintain a rational and logical perspective that is predominant in the scientific community.
But if we can let go of our need to categorize everything, perhaps we can start opening our minds to new possibilities… quicker!
How Does Reiki Fit In
As we already know, Reiki is part of the “pseudoscience” world.
Still, a few scientific experiments were conducted to test its effects.
The results were noted as placebo or “unknown cause.”
This topic was touched upon by the 1978 Nobel Prize winner Dr. Peter Mitchel. His work proved that the biological energy transfer between two or more organisms is possible and can be measured to some extent.
Moreover, a device capable of observing a person’s energy fields and colors is developing. Even though this is not yet strictly scientific research, it does pave the way for other developments that may grant us access to perceiving “new” dimensions.
Again, we are still in a very “young” evolution stage.
Is Reiki A Placebo Effect
We plan to cover this in more detail in a future article.
But think about it.
It’s well known that our brain has tremendous power over our health. And science recognizes placebo as a real and effective healing method.
So, if we believe Reiki will help us heal, it will.
On the other hand, if we let stress and dark thoughts take over, our health will reflect that.
Therefore, if taking a sugar pill can positively impact our health, imagine the possibilities a mind free of standard programs could have.
I’ll leave you with that.
