A Few Things To Consider Before Doing Reiki On Pets

Pets mean the world to us.

They represent our expression of kindness, thoughtfulness, and love.

Once we have one, life will never look the same. It’s human nature to care for others, especially when their unconditional love grows every day.

I still remember my first dog.

I had him since he was a puppy and could barely climb the stairs on our porch.

As you can imagine, he was a lot of fun. Playing with him was the first thing I did when returning from school.

But years passed. It happens to all of us.

By the age of 7, he was feeling rather lethargic. It took a while to find that his health condition was deteriorating from multiple causes.

I had no idea what to do.

I was very sad and relied on others for help. Being very young myself, I had no knowledge of Reiki or other spiritual practices.

I wish I could turn back time and help my dog.

Obviously, I can’t do that, but I’m sure some of you have pets and could benefit from this piece of advice. Even if you want to help others, you should know a few things.

Things To Consider Before Practicing Reiki On Pets

We share our energy with our pets.

This means that our energetic fields constantly interact with each other.

Unfortunately, their energetic system is not as developed as ours. Therefore, their chakras and energetic fields are more sensitive.

This means that their ability to “absorb” some of the negative and residual energies from our fields is quite high. Add to this their sensitive internal structure, and you have a vulnerable creature that needs a lot of care.

As we know, this doesn’t mean they are fragile. On the contrary, they can protect themselves from outside influences, including negative energies.

But, clearly understanding what happens at an energetic level can help us serve better.

Energetic Structure – Just Like Us

All vertebrates have energetic centers (chakras) and fields, especially mammals. Therefore, they can feel the difference in vibration when you practice Reiki on them.

This will help them relax and feel safe.

When they are anxious, they can calm down.

When they fear something, they can gain trust.

It’s a way for us to help them find balance.

You don’t need to draw Reiki symbols on your pet. It’s enough to use them when you activate your palms.

Place your hands on or close to your pet and let the universal life force energy flow. They will stay there for as much as they need to. There’s nothing else to do. Once they receive enough, they will leave or move away. Maybe they will even fall asleep.

Let them choose what to do next and never force their behavior.

How To Practice Reiki On Pets

Here are 3 things to consider when doing Reiki on your pet:

  • Start from the head down. Follow the neckline, body, and end with the tail. Each position should last between 3-5 minutes;
  • Never force them to stay still during the session. Let them move and even leave if they want. They can sense the increased energy level, so it’s possible to be bothered by that. This doesn’t mean you will never be able to practice Reiki on them. It just means it’s not the right time. Have patience;
  • Pets can easily become stressed or anxious. That’s when the above scenario is likely to happen. It’s also a great time to consider distance healing. Use the following sequence to activate your palms and open the dimension in front of you as an energetic gateway to your pets: Cho Ku Rei + Sei He Ki + Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen + Dai Ko Myo (if you are attuned for the second and third levels of Reiki). Send energy for 5-10 minutes;

One more thing to remember:

Cats absorb residual energies both from the room and your energetic fields. They tend to sit in spots charged with negative energy. Then, through their mysterious yet pleasant purr, they transform the negative into positive energy.

Dogs, on the other hand, have the impulse to sit in areas charged with positive energy. This can amplify their energy levels.

Regardless of whether you practice Reiki directly on your pets, you should know that you share part of that energy with them every time you perform self-treatment. This will have an indirect cleansing effect. Even so, they will be able to feel your vibration in those moments. This is another way to help them from a distance.
