The Art Of Conscious Breathing And How Anyone Can Do It

Do you remember your first breath?

The one you took consciously, I mean…

Maybe it’s not just one…

But when you have that moment of peace, when you pause and breathe new energy in to release tension and clear your mind, it sticks with you.

Breathing is more than a physiological need.

It’s a way to nourish your body and create immense benefits for your energetic structure.

We often don’t think about breathing as a spiritual exercise.

Yet, as you discover its possible outcomes, there’s no turning back.

Before I dive deeper into what a “correct breathing” exercise is and why it should matter to you, know this:

The air that you inhale is a vital energetic component that you interact with… basically at any given moment.

For example, in Chinese metaphysical practices, it’s called “Chi,” or “vital energy.”

Other practices, such as Qi Gong and Tai Chi, also include specific breathing exercises.

And, for a good reason…

When done right and conscious, breathing brings about 3 important changes at the physical and energetic levels.

  1. It stimulates your chakras, infusing them with fresh and positive energy. Therefore, the more intense the universal energy flow is, the more energy passes through your body;
  2. The brain begins to operate at a different frequency, enhancing cognitive functions;
  3. Then, your immune system, digestive process, and so on will gradually begin to operate at an optimum level;

In short… you can train your breathing to become a cleansing mechanism for both your physical and energetic bodies.

Practicing Correct Breathing

Ok, let’s get to the fun part.

What does “correct breathing” look like, and is this real?

I know it might sound farfetched, but hear me out.

When I was working long hours in a stressful environment, I realized that I needed to make some changes if I wanted to avoid a mental breakdown.

That’s when I stumbled upon the idea of using conscious breathing as a coping mechanism. It made a lot of sense because I could do it anywhere without special preparation. All I needed was a spare moment or two, and that was it.

Once I started, I felt like I had this void in my life that I never noticed.

Days went by, and breathing became a habit.

I was slowly starting to feel better, and overcoming stressful moments wasn’t a burden anymore.

Here’s how to do it!

Practicing Breathing As A Standalone Exercise

  1. Slowly inhale so that you fill your belly and then your chest with air;
  2. Keep the air inside for a couple of seconds. Try to acknowledge the energy you just absorbed;
  3. Slowly release the air your chest first and then let it out of your belly;
  4. Again, pause for a couple of seconds;
  5. Repeat in your rhythm. Don’t rush. If you get dizzy, then take a break and breathe normally.

Do these steps look familiar to you?

This is the Alpha State meditation but adapted for everyday needs.

Meaning?

It has a different pace and doesn’t require you to stay still. In fact, you can do this exercise in a work breake, while you’re walking, and even as you commute.

How To Practice Breathing With Reiki

As I became more comfortable with breathing, I decided to take it one step further and blend it with Reiki.

It didn’t take long to see how this approach was far superior.

Don’t get me wrong. Breathing is a wonderful place to start, and I’m still practicing it in isolation.

But adding Reiki to the mix is a potent way to reduce anxiety and feel alive once again. It accelerates the benefits of conscious breathing, making it a super-tool for lowering stress levels and going about your day with confidence and joy.

  1. Start by visualizing the universal life force energy entering your body as you inhale. Guide the flow through your primary chakras and allow it to manifest in the best way for you;
  2. As you exhale, let all the negative and residual energies exit your chakras, leaving them activated and cleansed;
  3. Want to add a bit more flavor? Activate Cho Ku Rei + Sei He Ki on your primary energy centers before you begin the exercise. This will enhance the energy flow and, without too much effort, will increase the efficiency of the process;

NOTE: Reiki will amplify any beneficial activity you take part in. Be it breathing, meditation, walking, or Qi Gong, Reiki is there to optimize your structures and help you make the most out of that experience.

Final Words

‘Correct’ breathing is conscious breathing.

It’s breathing with a clear intention rather than a need to survive.

The spiritual and energetic benefits are immense once this habit is implemented.

And… it’s probably the most in-hand method for cleansing, healing, and optimizing your body.

Take it one step at a time, but aim to seek it out at least once a day.

Your first goal is to gradually make it part of your life and then polish the technique or expect results.

Be happy and grateful each time you practice conscious breathing, regardless of how long it takes.

This is how you make progress happen.

Try it out, and let me know what you think!
