“I forgive you. But I’ll never forget.”
We’ve all experienced some kind of emotional burden at one point in life. Whether it was from a breakup, betrayal, or even intentional projections, it hits hard in the moment.
Fortunately, time heals all wounds… or does it?
“Forgiveness” might have been the ethical thing to do.
But deep down, you knew you’ll never forget.
And this suppresses negative emotions that usually surface when you least expect. When they do, confusion becomes the norm. You’re not sure why you can’t trust others or even yourself. And, the more you let it manifest at will, the deeper roots it grows.
This happens because forgiveness takes place in 3 stages:
- Understanding
- Compassion
- Forgiveness
The process is incomplete without the first two.
That’s why it’s essential to be as intentional as possible when you forgive, so you can release yourself from this unhealthy link. Otherwise, you risk letting it linger throughout your life, not knowing what actually keeps you stuck.
Yet, the first step is awareness.
So let’s start there.
Why You Need To Complete The Circle
Defense is a natural reaction.
When life challenges you with betrayal, loss, or conflict, your first response is to protect yourself. Sometimes… this means shutting down or seeking revenge. But deep down, you know resentment only leads to more suffering. It closes your heart instead of letting it open to possibilities and imprisons you in this vicious cycle of low-vibrational beliefs.
That’s why working to understand what happened, learning to have compassion, and ultimately offering forgiveness is the clear path to freedom. Together, they clear karmic debts and open you up to higher consciousness.
Let’s take them one by one.
1. Understanding
Understanding is all about gaining perspective.
But it doesn’t come easy.
So don’t beat yourself up.
It’s a gradual process you want to embark on with the right expectations. The first step is to accept that everyone is walking on their own, unique path. They have a duty to serve, whether that’s consciously or not. And, in their journey, they might “hurt” others.
Still, this isn’t always intentional. They’re battling with their own ancestral wounds and karmic debts. When you recognize this, you’ll learn not to associate every wrongdoing with an attack.
Gradually, you’ll shift from “Why me?” to “What can I learn?“
Only so you’ll be able to evolve…
Recognize the pattern in the future…
And develop your ability to offer compassion.
2. Compassion
At this stage, you agree to open your heart.
But, you do it from a state of strength and awareness. It’s a conscious choice. A brave act of acceptance when you’re ready to face the world and not succumb to the harmful cycle of judgment, anger, or revenge.
Compassion creates space for healing. It paints wrongdoings as part of the universal journey, not personal attacks.
You choose love over resentment and living over stagnation.
And… step-by-step, you prepare yourself to forgive.
3. Forgiveness
Forgiveness is the opposite of forgetting.
Forgiveness is a spiritual release… a conscious decision to cut karmic cords and release suffering.
But… remember: Forgiving is not about accepting what others did to you but setting yourself free.
That’s why the first two stages are crucial.
You want to forgive from a place of awareness. It’s the only way to break the karmic chain and clear your path. Once you do so, you open the doors to divine wisdom and higher levels of consciousness.
So… approach forgiveness as a process, not a quick fix.
Try These Two Reiki Methods For Genuine Forgiveness
Reiki dissolves the energetic patterns for each stage:
Understanding – Reiki quiets the mind and strengthens intuition. It helps you see beyond the surface and acknowledge the actual cause.
Compassion – Reiki softens the heart chakra, releasing resentment and making space for love and empathy.
Forgiveness – Reiki severs toxic energetic cords and clears karmic imprints, empowering you to release what no longer serves your evolution.
Here are two ways to use Reiki for genuine forgiveness:
#1 Self-treatment
- Place your hands over your heart chakra and visualize the universal energy flowing through this energy center.
- Say the affirmation “I open my heart to understanding, compassion, and forgiveness.”
- Use Sei He Ki to release heavy emotions and mental loops tied to anger or blame.
- Add Shika Sei Ki + Dai Ko Myo while keeping your palms above your heart chakra. (stay in this position for ~10min.)
- Repeat daily for a couple of weeks and notice the changes in your emotional and mental layers.
#2 Distance Healing
- Send distance healing to dissolve karmic patterns.
- Activate your palms with Cho Ku Rei + Sei He Ki + Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen.
- Open an energetic gateway in front of you with the same sequence.
- Have the intention to dissolve the karmic chains keeping you stuck in present loops.
- Channel universal energy for 10-15 minutes a couple of times a week.
- You should notice how your perception changes within one or two weeks.
Understanding, compassion, and forgiveness are not abstract ideals.
They are living, breathing values that transform how we walk through life. Reiki can help alleviate these emotions by gently lifting the weight of resentment, anger, and pain.
Understanding… changes perspective.
Compassion… expands your heart.
Forgiveness… sets you free.
And, when you’re liberated, your mind sees new opportunities while your heart accepts challenges.
This is how you’re supposed to evolve.
This is how you should aspire to live.
