Crystals are not just beautiful rocks we carry around our neck to look pretty or display on our shelves to enrich the space we live in. Each one has a unique molecular structure based on its origin. This is what makes them so appealing and mysterious.
But crystals are more than chemicals tied together.
They hold energy and information.
Each crystal generates an energy field with unique therapeutic attributes. Spiritual practitioners use them in their sessions to amplify the universal energy flow and tap into their attributes.
Here’s how they work:
Crystals work as potent amplifiers.
They influence both the universal and vital energies.
That’s why therapists love crystals. They use them for their unique attributes, to support their channeling efforts, but also to stimulate the body’s vital energy.
You can have them sitting around in your room to absorb negative energy, or place them on the chakras for a more active use.
But not all crystals are created equally.
Their size, color, and purity influence the outcome.
Let’s take them one by one:
Size – the larger the crystal, the better. A large crystal will absorb negative energy more quickly, while a smaller crystal may be better suited for active work, such as placing it on the body or holding it during sessions. Regardless, the size matters. But you should choose it according to your needs.
Color – the color of each crystal indicates its hidden attributes in connection with the flow of energy. While some can absorb unwanted elements, others can stimulate the health of chakras and energy fields.
Purity – a treated or heated crystal will never be as effective as a natural one. Chemical treatments degrade the molecular structure of a crystal and, therefore, its energetic abilities.
So… what can crystals do?
Crystals connect the spiritual world to the physical one.
Crystals are potent spiritual tools.
They enable practitioners to address mental, emotional, and even physical imbalances with much more precision. Whether this happens by amplifying the flow or tapping into different attributes, crystals offer access to healing abilities not present in hand positions.
Here are three of the most common attributes:
Enhancement – crystals amplify the universal life force energy flow to break strong blockages and stagnant energy. Amethyst, clear quartz, or citrine are very useful for this purpose. You can hold them in your palms during self-treatment or therapy on others to support your intention and channel the universal energy more effectively.
Absorption – this is where dark-colored crystals come into play. Examples such as onyx, obsidian, or black tourmaline have excellent absorption properties. Place them in a room or on your body, and let them attract what doesn’t serve you well. Obsidian can even surface unhealed patterns from your shadow.
Activation – use crystals to stimulate your chakras. Rose quartz and malachite are ideal for healing the heart chakra. Red jasper works well for the root chakra, while lapis lazuli resonates with the throat. Amethyst is great for stimulating the superior chakras and their energy fields, strengthening your connection to your higher self.
This is not an exhaustive list.
With so many crystals out there, I would dare to say the possible combinations are infinite.
For example, you can go even deeper to targeting your meridians with agate and red quartz. Or address disturbing energies with the support of smoky quartz.
Experimenting with the common crystals is a good start.
But, I believe, resonance is the ultimate guide.
See what crystals appeal to you, what attributes make the most sense, and what colors lift your mood. Listen to your intuition and test the waters.
The right crystals will eventually speak to you and your needs.
That’s when you’ll feel they are alive.
Care for your crystals to ensure the optimum effect.
Crystals are not soulless elements.
Even if they don’t have a “soul” per se, they do resemble living beings. Otherwise, their properties wouldn’t exist, and their effects wouldn’t be felt.
Crystals absorb the energies you interact with. Regardless of how you use them, they get tainted.
Therefore, cleanse your crystals for optimum effect.
This is what I do:
- I like holding the crystals, one by one, and channeling energy into their structure with the intention of dissolving any accumulated energy and rebuilding their structure.
- I also wash them gently under lukewarm water.
- Sometimes I expose them to holy incense or light a candle near them with the same intention.
This is what I recommend against:
- Some practitioners prefer placing their crystals on coarse salt. That’s ok, if you limit the time. 10-15 minutes is enough for the salt to absorb the negative energies. Otherwise, you risk “dehydrating”, compromising its structure and properties.
- Don’t expose them to direct sunlight for the same reason. While lighter-colored crystals might handle this better, dark-colored crystals won’t like it.
- Of course, never use chemicals to clean your crystals. You want to revive their energy, not scrub away dirt.
Crystals are tools, not decorations.
Their effectiveness depends on how you choose them, care for them, and work with them. A dusty amethyst sitting on a shelf won’t do much for your energy field. But a cleansed rose quartz placed intentionally on your heart chakra during self-treatment can shift the entire session.
The key is treating them as partners in your practice.
When you respect their structure, understand their attributes, and listen to what resonates, crystals stop being mysterious objects and become extensions of your healing work.
They bring precision to intention.
They amplify what you’re already doing.
And over time, you’ll notice which ones work in your favor.
My advice is to start simple and experiment with the most common crystals. Display them in your work room and try them out during self treatment. Let your intuition guide your flow but always pay attention to the insights that might surface.
The right crystals won’t reveal themselves through theory.
They will prove their worth through practice.
