Visualizing the universal energy flow can sometimes feel challenging.
It leads to poor results and a mediocre Reiki experience. No matter how much you try, you feel tired and even anxious. You might believe Reiki doesn’t work anymore or that you’ve lost your spark.
But in reality, you could be facing another type of energetic blockage. One you’ve probably never met before.
It’s called: The Small Heavenly Circuit.
This ancient Taoist concept is a continuous loop of energy running up your spine (through the Governing Vessel, Du Mai) and down the front of your body (through the Conception Vessel, Ren Mai).
When this loop is blocked, energy gets stuck. You might feel drained, unbalanced, or emotionally exhausted… not knowing why, even if you practice Reiki.
Paradoxically, Reiki is still the answer.
But to make it work, you must first understand the mechanism
What Is The Small Heavenly Circuit
It’s a distribution network for vital energy.
Ren Mai – runs down to the root chakra from the mouth area. It feeds the main organs like the heart, thymus gland, stomach, liver, and reproductive system.
Du Mai – starts from the root chakra, where Ren Mai left off. It runs up the spine, stimulating the kidneys, lungs, and brain (intersecting with Ren Mai in the tip of the tongue).
That’s why I recommend placing the tongue on the roof of the mouth during attunements or meditations. It helps unite the two primary channels and create an uninterrupted flow of vital and universal energy.
3 Benefits Of Stimulating The Small Heavenly Circuit
1. Balance The Energy
This circuit is like an energy highway.
When the traffic runs smoothly up and down your body, you feel good and energized. Otherwise, you’re overstimulated but tired or emotionally heavy and restless.
So, to enjoy well-being, avoid “traffic jams”!
2. Amplifies The Reiki Flow
Reiki works better when your energy flows uninterrupted.
• You can enjoy longer, more profound sessions.
• You can sense blockages and clear them effectively.
• You can absorb pure light more easily and preserve it.
3. Deepens Your Spiritual Connection While Keeping You Grounded
There are two main currents:
1. The Heavenly (downward current) – energy enters your body through the crown chakra.
2. The Earthly (upward current) – energy rising through the root chakra, stimulating your body, and exiting through the crown chakra.
This natural energy flow opens your divine connection while keeping you anchored in the present.
How To Cleanse The Small Heavenly Circuit
I like blending the traditional Taoist exercise with Reiki for an enhanced effect.
It’s also a method I resonate with.
So, feel free to experiment and find your own way of cleansing the Heavenly Circuit.
But, before you get there, try following these steps:
- Visualize a sphere of white light (similar in size to a tennis ball) at the sacral chakra area, half an inch under the navel. This is the center of your vital energy.
- Active Cho Ku Rei + Sei He Ki + Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen + Dai Ko Myo inside the sphere.
- Now, allow this sphere to move through each of the seven primary chakras, dissolving any negative energy and detrimental programs in its path. Spend about two minutes in each position.
Here are the recommended areas:
- Start at the root chakra.
- Move the sphere between the kidneys.
- Next, allow it to shine between your lungs.
- Back projection of your throat chakra.
- Back projection of your third eye chakra.
- Crown chakra
- Third eye chakra (front side of the body)
- Throat chakra (front side of the body)
- Heart chakra (front side of the body)
- Solar plexus chakra (front side of the body)
And you finish the exercise right where you started, at the sacral chakra level.
But isn’t this like working with Sushumna?
Both are energy pathways that support the vital energy flow.
Yet, they operate through different frameworks:
Sushumna – runs along the spine, connecting all major chakras. It’s the main channel used during Kundalini awakening and is associated with spiritual ascension.
Small Heavenly Circuit – comes from the Taoist practice. It also circulates energy but through a loop formed by two meridians: Ren Mai and Du Mai.
So yes… you’re still working with the central energy flow. But the Small Heavenly Circuit adds a circular dynamic that engages both front and back channels.
I don’t see one better than the other.
They just serve different needs.
- I might use the Small Heavenly Circuit to recharge while staying grounded.
- And Sushumna, when I seek spiritual elevation or deeper transformation.
Experiment and see which one works for you.
You’re the sum of all your individual parts.
And so is your energy.
As you can see, there are many components to your energetic anatomy. Even the flow resembles a train with many stops. Improving one doesn’t mean the system will work better.
You want everything to function in harmony for best results.
This is another example of Reiki’s flexibility.
You can always blend it with other techniques and practices to come up with methods better suited for your needs.
Try it out and let me know what you think.
