Originally part of traditional Reiki, the Pillar of Light was used on the back of the body. It was very efficient in cleansing the spine and back-related issues. Still, it has proven to be quite helpful in many other applications.

Today, I like to use it to cleanse and stimulate the back projections of the primary chakras and the main energy channel, Sushumna.

Due to its influence on our vital energy, the Pillar of Light is ideal in the morning.

It’s like drinking coffee, but from an energetic standpoint. The difference is that you must do it for a few continuous days for the best outcome. Like anything in Reiki, don’t expect immediate results.

That’s why I recommend practicing the Pillar of Light for ten consecutive days before jumping to conclusions.

Think of it as a mechanism for realigning your energy rather than a quick-fix. It may take longer to unfold, but the results should be more profound and long-lasting.

Here’s what to expect from the Pillar of Light method:

1) Boosts vital energy – This can help combat fatigue and dissolve the feeling of “heaviness” upon waking up.

2) Purifies the main energy channel – Helps remove residual energies and blockages from the main energy channel Sushumna. This translates into a smoother flow of both vital and universal life force energy.

3) Cleanses and activates chakras – Helps cleanse and stimulate the activation of the back projection of the primary chakras. Its influence is predominant on the middle chakras, namely: the third eye, throat, heart, solar plexus, and sacral.

  • Place one palm on the lower back of the head and the other on the lower back of the body, the sacral area.
  • Stay in this position for about 10–15 minutes.

NOTE: The palms have no polarity. So, it doesn’t matter whether you place the front or back of your palm in these positions.

There is no need to force the energy to flow or try to make yourself feel something specific. Just allow the universal energy to flow naturally and then carry on with your day.

I like practicing this technique consistently for several weeks.

I give myself time and expect gradual improvements because I see it as a realignment rather than an immediate solution. When I feel like my body is under stress, I also do my best to compensate with better meals and more rest. I’m more intentional so that each action can support the other.
