Pets are silent healers.
They feel your energy and mood with uncanny precision. The cat curls up beside you when you’re low, while the dog stays close, often absorbing your most challenging emotions. These gentle beings often take on what we’re unable to process.
But while they support us, they are not filters. Pets need energetic cleansing and rebalancing too.
And thankfully, Reiki is here to help.
Understanding The Energetic Exchange
When you practice Reiki, your pets feel it.
The universal life force energy doesn’t stop at your aura. It radiates outward, nourishing those closest to you. Cats and dogs, in particular, are incredibly sensitive to this energetic flow:
Cats – naturally rest in areas where energy stagnates. Through purring, they transmute low vibrations and serve as emotional transmuters.
Dogs – are natural amplifiers. They seek out high-vibrational spaces and elevate the energy in the environment.
This is a beautiful exchange that enhances our well-being.
But it can leave them energetically drained over time.
That’s why it’s essential to include them in your Reiki practice.
How To Offer Reiki To Your Pet
Just like us, pets have chakras and subtle energy bodies.
But they’re often more attuned and receptive to universal energy, which makes Reiki especially effective for them.
Here’s a simple 3-step method to begin:
- 1. Activate your palms by rubbing them against each other and add Reiki symbols. Move your hands above their body, as your intuition guides you.
- Start from the head and spend 3-5 minutes in each position until you reach the tail. Pay attention to your pet and how it reacts as this is your north star.
- If you’re pet is restless, try distance healing. Activate your palms and them open the energetic gateway in front of you with Cho Ku Rei + Sei He Ki + Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen + Dai Ko Myo (for level 3). Channel universal energy for their greater good for about 5-10 minutes.
Here are the benefits you can expect:
- Reduce anxiety.
- Support emotional balance.
- Ease discomfort from illness or injury.
Reiki strengthens the bond between you and your pet.
And every session represents a silent conversation. It helps you communicate energetically, deepening your trust and strengthening your connection. When you open your hands in Reiki, your pet should recognize your intention. Even if it isn’t obvious, it feels you.
Usually, a sense of comfort and security embraces them. You’re their guardian angel, in a sense, and every time you try to improve their state of being, they accept your help with love and gratitude.
When you heal them… you heal yourself.
Enhancing The Practice (optional)
Want to deepen the experience?
Consider integrating one of the following elements:
Create a Sacred Space – Light a candle, play soft music, or place a favorite crystal nearby. This raises the vibration and invites tranquility for both of you.
Ask for support – Call in Archangel Ariel (protector of animals) or Archangel Raphael (healer of beings) to surround your pet with additional love and healing light.
Practice Gassho first – A few breaths in the Gassho position (hands in prayer) will help align your mind, body, and spirit before you begin the session. This also helps your pet feel calmer.
Reiki works beautifully on its own.
But if you feel called to explore further, these additional steps may turn your session into a more sacred and deeper experience. Adapt to your situation and follow your intuition. Often, the pet will communicate what it likes and dislikes.
My advice, as always, see what works best for you.
Final Thoughts
Pets are more than companions.
They can act as silent healers and even teachers. They nurture us with their unconditional love and care for our energetic and emotional state every day. Reiki is a beautiful way to return the favour and ensure their health is stable on all levels.
And, as we do, we discover this is a mutual gift.
