Communication is the foundation of every society.
I learned this a long time ago, during a disagreement with a close friend. The problem wasn’t the dispute itself but how we expressed those opinions. The quality of the energy and information behind our words nearly ended the friendship.
That’s when it clicked for me.
Whether through speech, writing, sign language, singing, or painting, the way you express yourself carries you through every step of life. Because everything within you eventually looks for a way out.
And all of it flows through one particular area of the body… the Throat Chakra.
Meet Vishuddha
This is the Sanskrit name for the Throat Chakra.
Located in the pit of the throat, this energy center also has a back projection, sitting on the upper side of the shoulder blades. Both sides handle expression and communication, but with slight differences.
The back projection stores unexpressed emotions.
The front helps you release them.
While the other chakras carry passive attributes covering energetic and physical elements, the Throat Chakra is the only one you actually use to balance your feelings and release your thoughts into the physical world.
As you start healing this energy center and release the old, stagnant energy at this level, you’ll notice how you begin expressing yourself harmoniously.
When it’s influenced by negative energy, the opposite happens. You express incomplete ideas in a tense or even aggressive tone. Or you experience that “tight neck” moment, when you want to say something but simply can’t. Naturally, this affects the conversation, breeding animosity instead of harmony.
The more aware we become about our energetic anatomy, the easier it is to recognize and eventually address imbalances.
Understanding The Throat Chakra In Relation With The Other Energy Centers
We have multiple physical and psychic levels.
Each of these levels is governed by a chakra. And these chakras “communicate” with one another, creating an optimum energetic rhythm which supports our daily lives.
Creativity emerges from the Sacral Chakra.
Compassion, love, or grief live in the Heart Chakra.
Thoughts are governed by the Crown and Third Eye.
But all these elements enter the physical world through the Throat Chakra.
Therefore…
While the primary chakras play a crucial role in your well-being, they act more like an interface. It’s the Throat Chakra that stands out as the main facilitator. The energy center that connects your thoughts, feelings, and ideas with reality.
But here’s the interesting part.
Healing the primary chakras also teaches you how to listen.
And through listening, you gather the knowledge and wisdom you’ll later express in your daily life.
That’s why this synergy matters.
What Communication Looks Like On Different Levels
Verbal language is our primary means of communication.
But we’re complex beings who can transmit information in many ways. Our gestures, facial expressions, and even decisions, act as signals for those who recognize them.
Let’s see why this matters.
Physical Level
This is where expression is the most visible.
Your voice carries words, but it also carries tone, rhythm, hesitation, confidence, warmth, or tension. Your facial expression, posture, and gestures reveal a great deal from your subconscious.
- Writing is an intimate way to share with the world, and often, even with yourself, the most profound ideas.
- Singing is how you connect with others who resonate with your vibration.
- Creative arts are also a very tangible form of communication.
- Even silence can say a lot about a person.
Communication cannot be reduced to speech alone. The Throat Chakra supports the transition from inner experience to physical expression. It gives what lives within you a way to appear in the world.
But this can take many forms, none better than the other. And the more aware we are of how we can express ourselves, the healthier our emotional body will be.
I will also argue, the more value you’ll bring into the world.
Energetic Level
Let’s use verbal communication as our example.
We constantly share our thoughts through spoken words.
When those who listen understand our language, they can register the information and act accordingly.
But behind every word there’s energy. This energy lives within us and is shaped by experiences. Where we live, who guided us in this life, our karmic baggage, and even present choices… they all influence the energy we carry every day.
And so, what we put out into the physical world is the result of this energy.
The Throat Chakra moves it from inside out.
What was subtle becomes visible.
What was personal becomes shareable.
What was only felt becomes part of reality.
The Throat Chakra acts as a facilitator but also as a filter.
If it’s stuck, it won’t allow the information to flow freely. If it’s broken, you won’t be able to express yourself harmoniously.
That’s why it’s so important to keep this chakra in balance.
How To Activate And Heal Your Throat Chakra With Reiki
Now that you understand what this energy center does, here’s how to care for it:
- Sit in a chair with your back straight and relax.
- Practice the box breathing technique to enter the Alpha State — inhale, hold, exhale, hold, each for four counts. This will help you release stray thoughts and turn your attention to the present moment.
- Place one palm on the Throat Chakra and one on its back projection.
- Set your intention to clear any stagnant energy at this level and activate the chakra.
- Channel the Universal Energy through this energy center for 15–20 minutes each day.
- Add Sei He Ki + Shika So + Dai Ko Myo from Usui Reiki to enhance the flow and infuse the energy with their specific attributes.
- Consider Zonar, Iava, and Shanti if you have the Karuna/Holy Fire attunement.
- Antahkarana is another great addition if you’re a Shamballa Reiki practitioner.
Intentional channeling of the Universal Life Force Energy, together with the unique manifestation of the Reiki symbols, will clear the Throat Chakra, eventually leading to a harmonious expression of your feelings and thoughts.
Mind Your Energetic Communication
We tend to treat communication as a skill.
Something you sharpen through practice, better words, better timing, better delivery. And that’s part of it. Of course. But only to some extent.
How you express yourself doesn’t start with spoken words.
It starts in the energy trying to move through you.
When that energy flows freely, your words land with clarity and warmth. When it’s blocked, even your best intentions come out… incomplete, trapped behind a tight throat.
So if you feel emotions and ideas are filling your body and you can’t get them out, maybe you should have a look at how you express yourself.
Become aware of your behavior first.
Observe how you talk, what you do, and how those ideas come out. Then, turn your attention to the energetic layer and work with your Throat Chakra. Bring it back to balance and activate it so you can finally come out as you are.
This will change everything from how you approach relationships to the conversations you’re having with yourself.
The Throat Chakra will help you meet your true self.
