Why Success Feels So Scary (Even When You Say You Want It)

What if you fear success more than failure?

Fear served us well as a survival mechanism, for thousands of years. It kept us alert, responsive, and away from danger. Fast forward to today, we don’t need to hide in caves or worry about wild animals eating us alive.

Yet, fear is still a predominant feature of our species.

Let’s take failure, for example.

It’s a fear most can relate to:

  • Whether it’s your job.
  • Life partner.
  • Or health.

We all fear losing something.

But other fears operate in silence.

They crawl under your subconscious and spread like a splash of water, gradually taking control of your emotions. In turn, your decision-making process suffers, falling victim to this invasive energy.

One such fear is: The fear of success!

Fear Of Success Hides In Plain Sight

It shows up as:

  • Procrastination.
  • Overplanning.
  • Perfectionism.

You are never ready and want to play it “safe”.

The closer the goal the harder you push back.

Self-sabotage is present at every stage:

  • What if I actually succeed?
  • What would I struggle with then?
  • What if I’m not worthy of this outcome?

So… you keep running in your comfortable loop!

Why Do You Fear Success

Achievements require effort.

But it’s not effort you run away from. If you think about it, you don’t mind additional workload. You actually stack up duties to feel productive and worth paying attention to.

Yet, these are all excuses to postpone the outcome.

Because the outcome implies change.

Therefore, you’re subconscious is ready to step in and avoid the “disaster”. It works silently to protect you from facing a new reality. It keeps you safe, even with the cost of stagnation.

Self-doubt whispers:

  • You’re not ready.
  • You’re good where you are.
  • Risks are for irresponsible people.

And so, you work tirelessly to prove you’re not worthy.

To show you’re not ready.

To avoid change.

Where Does This Fear Come From

Fear of success runs deeper.

Behind the anxiety of an uncertain future lies a plethora of unhealed traumas. These low-vibrational convictions go way back and linger in the present. You’re being squeezed from all angles, rarely aware of why things don’t go your way.

Fear of success is rooted in your energetic system:

Third Eye Chakra – Is the first to be affected. Your intuition suffers and, therefore, your primal instinct (fear) takes over.

Heart and Solar Plexus Chakras – Are the main drivers of fear. When they are out of tune, your willpower dries out, you fail to trust your instincts, and constantly chase external validation.

Root Chakra – When unworthiness takes over, your root chakra stops working properly, creating chaos where there used to be order.

How To Escape Fear And Embrace Success With Reiki

Fear is nothing more than an emotion.

It’s a strong feeling, but still one that stems from pure energy. So, your goal is not to eliminate fear (as it plays a crucial role in survival), but transmute the excess into useful energy. You want to grow aware of what’s already inside you, bring everything to normal levels, and protect your system from future intruders.

The Reiki self-treatment is the best place to start. But, because chakras act as gates of consciousness, we’ll use them to go beyond energetic cleansing and target fear at a subconscious level.

  1. Heart Chakra – Open your soul and release any blockages preventing you from manifesting your self-worth. This will help clear your mind and see yourself for who you truly are. Use Reiki symbols like Sei He Ki and Shika Sei Ki with the clear intention of cleansing the essence of your soul. Harth will enhance the effects by transmuting fear into courage and determination.
  2. Solar Plexus Chakra – Balancing this energy center will lead to a sense of order and willpower. Use the same Reiki symbols or experiment with Zonar, Halu, and Rama for thorough cleansing.
  3. Root Chakra – All chakras are interconnected. But the Root will further enhance the properties of the Solar Plexus if you cleanse and stimulate it. Cho Ku Rei and Rama work particularly well on this energy center.

Fear Of Success Is Not Weakness

It means:

  • Your primal instinct acts as a shielding mechanism.
  • Your emotions are fueled by old wounds.
  • Change is unknown and scares you.

Bottom line… your spirit is asking for expansion.

You must start from within to see growth on the outside.

The world is your oyster.

But first you must allow yourself to thrive.

Reiki is the perfect tool to get started:

  • It will release the blockages that keep you stuck.
  • It will gradually build your awareness.
  • It will support these energetic shifts.

And… all this will trigger fear.

But remember: being afraid is normal!

It means you’re alive and looking to grow.

Embrace fear to accept change.

Action is how you own your life.
